SMARTPT Why?

Soil mechanics – the SPT field test is frequently used in basic engineering applications. The obtained SPT blow counts are corrected by considering the energy differences in the hammer system used. A local SPT hammer monitoring device has been developed by Geodestek R&D engineers operating within the METU Technopolis using domestic resources. With the use of this device, uncertainties reaching up to two orders of magnitude in the obtained blow counts have been eliminated. Geodestek, with the SPT hammer energy monitoring device, can accurately measure and report the energy efficiency of any type of SPT hammer system within minutes, depending on the preference of geotechnical service providers, either from its central office or on-site.
