Vibrating Wire Strain Gauge
Product description
GeoAnts Vibrating Wire Strain Gauges (VWSG-E and VWSG-AW) are designed for high-precision strain measurements in a variety of structural applications. The sensor consists of an embedded vibrating wire strain gauge housed in a stainless-steel body with a custom-built pluck (excitation) coil. These sensors measure stress and deformation by detecting how mechanical changes in stress affect the wire’s resonant frequency, which is then converted into a measurable signal.

Standard / variants
- Standard model: The standard VW embedded strain gauge is designed to measure stress in reinforced concrete and mass concrete. By installing 2 to 4 VW embedded strain gauges in different orientations on suitable elements, you can measure strain magnitude, directional distribution, and trend. Once embedded in structures such as dams and embankments, the gauges can be used to understand the strain behavior of the structure.
- Biaxial: The biaxial model is highly useful for accurate biaxial stress measurement in reinforced concrete, mass concrete structures, and shotcrete applications.
- Miniature: The ultra-compact miniature model can be used very conveniently when installation conditions are constrained.
