Vibrating Wire Spot-Weldable Strain Gauge
Product description
The spot-weldable strain gauge consists of a coil housing that secures two small pluck (excitation) coils, and two end flanges connected by a tube. The vibrating wire of the VW spot-weldable strain gauge is tensioned between two end blocks that are spot-welded onto the surface of the steel member.
The wire is tuned to vibrate at its resonant frequency. This frequency depends on the wire tension, which varies with the stress state of the steel element. For reliable long-term readings, the spot-welded area should be ground/sanded flatbefore welding. The strain gauge is equipped with a temperature device to compensate for temperature variations.
Model
Standard
Standard-model vibrating wire spot-weldable strain gauges are designed to measure strain/stress in steel structures such as bridges, piles, tunnel linings, and buildings.
Heavy Duty Type
This alternative VW spot-weldable strain gauge is more suitable when there are installation constraints in the working area. The model’s measurement range is 5000 µε.
